Welcome
The D.R. of Congo : June 2010
In December 2009, Heather and Barry traveled to Bunia in the Democratic Republic of Congo to deliver and install a NLI water purifier in the local hospital. We were also able to take 50 Sawyer filters and have them distributed to local families.
This was the first trip by Water Ambassadors Canada to the Congo and the need for clean water was immediately apparent. The entire city of Bunia receives water through the town water system and this water is contaminated. This is the only source of water available and the people consume it even though they know a number of diseases are transmitted through this water.
While in Bunia Congo in December 2009, we made contact with the sisters at Lycée Kigonze. The water in the school is contaminated. We pledged to return with an NLI purifier system for the 1300 students there.
In June 2010, Ray Johnson and Barry returned to DR Congo to install purifiers in 2 more hospitals as well as the girls school.
Your generosity and support has allowed us to deliver our pledge: “Changing lives with clean water.”
Costa Rica Water Purifier Installation Trip
Four Canadians joined a university group from Berea College KY and travelled to Costa Rica. This is an emerging modern country. There are still pockets of very poor people near the cities and towns. The local church is a good resource for spiritual food as well as feeding programs and distributing pure water. A vision clinic was offered in 3 locations. Over 1000 pairs of glasses were handed out. Also, 3 purifier units were installed.
